First off, we have Charlotte’s brother to thank (or blame!) for giving us a 3,000-piece LEGO Ferrari. We’re now about 60% of the way through, chipping away at it an hour a day. It’s tricky, definitely not one of those easy LEGO builds but it’s been such a good way to spend time with Kit and Florie. I can already picture how great it’s going to look when it’s finally finished.

It’s also been Dr. Tom’s first week in the clinic, and he’s been amazing. He’s been thrown straight into the deep end, but if you’ve seen him this week you’ll know he’s fantastic. Thank you to everyone who has welcomed him. We’re so pleased to have him on the team.
A special thank you as well to those clients who were flexible with appointments. On Wednesday morning it was Florie’s first day of school, and I really appreciated being able to get her ready, dressed, and out the door without rushing. She did brilliantly and had the best day.

And then last weekend… the triathlon. Let’s just say it was humbling. I went in pretty confident, thinking I could just get away with very little run training after all, I’d done plenty of cycling, right? Turns out running a half Ironman without running more than 5K since the Surrey Half Marathon is… not recommended. It was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done and a real wake-up call. Lesson learned: respect the training plan!
This week we are checking out what the research is saying about Chiropractic for people aged 50+.
1. Potential to Reduce Fall Risk
A large retrospective study found that older adults with spinal pain who received spinal manipulative therapy (SMT) had a reduced risk of falls over 13 months compared to controls (Cureus, 2022; anjc.info).
Another study reported that chiropractic adjustments improved reaction time and multisensory integration, both of which are critical for balance and fall prevention (echirohealth.com, 2023).
This is something we really try and push, we know that having Chiropractic can help the joints and muscles react quicker, and now the research shows how.
2. Enhanced Pain Relief and Quality of Life
Evidence suggests that senior chiropractic patients often report sustained reductions in pain and improved function when engaged in ongoing care (Peterson et al., 2017; PMC). Qualitative studies also show that older adults combining chiropractic with exercise and education programs feel better supported and see tangible improvements even when skeptical at first (BioMed Central, 2021).
Top 5 Tips for Seniors Considering Chiropractic Care
Ø Ask about fall prevention goals and care may support balance and stability.
Ø Look for practices that include exercise and education along with adjustments.
Ø Request gentle techniques tailored to seniors.
Ø Expect a holistic approach of care that includes movement, posture, and lifestyle.
Ø Choose personalised care that considers your overall health and goals.
Chiropractic care is not just about pain relief it can help seniors stay active, independent, and confident in their golden years.
